The concept of the SS15 collection revolves around the fascinating world of seas and oceans, and, more specifically, the science fiction classic “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea”. Forms are dominated by relaxed, wave-inspired curved cuts and take equal inspiration from contemporary fashion and the costumes from the motion picture. The hues and shapes of the underwater realm are also mirrored in the color and texture of fabrics, reminiscent of sea creatures like sea sponges, starfish and turtles, or the fine, multicolor granules of sea sand.
“The collection features two self-designed digital prints: an elastic cotton base, inspired by sunshine reflected off the water, and a lighter type of poplin, a graphic reinterpretation of sea. animals’ fossils. For the first time we also used applications as pattern-making tools, the inspiration for which came from planktonic organisms,” – explained András Tóth, one of the designers behind the ambitious fashion brand.
Similarly to the previous creations of USE unused, the SS15 collection shows a bold combination of high-quality fabrics – including embossed jersey, highly transparent vinyl, and double-wall neoprene – and the playful use of innovative, unique technologies.
